It provides access to the Family History Library and the largest collection of free family history, family tree and genealogy records in the world. The International Genealogical Index contains more than 285 million people researched and extracted from original records. T

he Pedigree Resource File contains over 220 million names in family trees with about 1.2 million new names submitted to this database every month. Ancestral File contains about 37 million lineage-linked names of people throughout the world. FamilySearch provides easy access for the gathering and sharing of family history information. Free.

Ancestry World Tree (and Rootsweb WorldConnect) is a free collection of user-submitted GEDCOMs (family trees). You can access World Tree and World Connect from two different websites, but either way, it is the same program and the same set of trees. The database contains more than 467 million names in family trees submitted by users.

If you wish to search only World Trees or WorldConnect alone use the URL addresses above. However, an Ancestry.com general tree search also includes other family trees not in World Tree. A general search may also include World Tree but only when you click the “Exact matches only” button. Free.
